Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE (Summary of major reasons this job exists)

The Assistant Controller will manage the finance department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Majority of duties performed, but not to be all-inclusive or to prevent other duties from being assigned)

  1. Assist in overseeing fiscal activities ensuring the accurate and timely processing of revenue, accounts receivables, accounts payable, inventory, fixed assets, core employee expense reports, cash control, payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
  2. Assist with the activities of the corporate accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
  3. General Ledger/ Financial Statements
    1. Prepare and review revenue, expense, invoices, and other accounting/accrual entries as required.
    2. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and documentation of business transactions.
    3. Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness. Perform accounting analysis to identify anomalies and ensure utmost accuracy.
    4. Maintain sub ledger accounts and needed data tracking to reconcile and explain the general ledger for management decision making.
    5. Review balance sheet activity and prepare or approve all associated reconciliations.
    6. Resolve accounting discrepancies.
  4. Licenses and Registrations
    1. Manage business and operating licenses and registration including annual renewals.
    2. Manage vehicle registration renewals.
  5. Purchasing/Inventory/Vendor Management
    1. Manage vendor credit applications.
    2. Oversee/manage the inventory pricing, physical count process and general ledger reconciliation/accounting for usage.
    3. Partner with CMC’s Operations department personnel for vendor selection, unit price monitoring, and part and procurement changes.
    4. Train employees on the purchasing processes.
  1. Payroll
    1. Oversee and provide direction on bi-weekly and monthly bonus payroll processing.
    2. Ensure all general ledger payroll entries are recorded accurately and timely.
    3. Ensure all general ledger payroll accounts are reconciled and accurate on a monthly basis.
  2. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  3. Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  4. Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  5. Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  6. Assist with coaching and mentoring accounting staff to ensure the corporate accounting department is performing effectively and at their highest potential to achieve program and company organizational goals.
  7. Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  8. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  9. Ensure that work is conducted in compliance with OSHA and company safety procedures.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


JOB REQUIREMENTS (Experience, education, knowledge, skills & abilities required for competent performance in the job)

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Management or Finance required. MBA preferred.
  2. 8 years of progressive experience in Accounting Field.
  3. 5 Years of supervisory experience.
  4. CPA certification preferred.
  5. Ability to collaborate with Leadership on all topics related to finance, including establishing and meeting quarterly and annual objectives.
  6. Resourcefulness to meet tight deadlines and flexibility with fluctuating priorities.
  7. Strong communication, presentation, training, business acumen and analytical skills required.
  8. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in speech and writing, with customers, staff, managers, supervisors, contractors and clients.
  9. Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity and ethics.
  10. Although this position is based in Fort Washington, PA, travel to other offices may be occasionally required.
  11. Advanced in Microsoft Excel, accounting and payroll software.
  12. Perform the essential functions and physical demands of the position with or without accommodation.

Position requires employee to work in office (Fort Washington, PA) minimum of 3 days per week (flexible days). Will eventually evolve to remote depending on performance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (The physical demands of the job):

  1. Consistently spending time sitting, typing, talking, walking and using repetitive motion.
  2. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery, such as a computer.
  3. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
  4. Visual capacity enabling frequent use of computer equipment.
  5. Sedentary work: ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  1. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
